Since this was shown on Entertainment Weekly's webpage, I think it safe to reveal here- This is one of three posters I did for an upcoming book release from Little Brown publishers this summer.
While the lettering and graphic designs are all digital, as always the rest of the art is entirely traditional. I wanted this to have an "old-timey" feel, so I started by using colored paper to help tint all the colors I used, and to keep the background from looking too bright and clean. I also tried to select "period" looking fonts to reflect that early 1900's feel that these shysters exhibit.
This is one of 3 posters I did, and while I was very happy with each of them- must be honest, this was my least favorite. Can't exactly reveal what the others are yet, but one is very much a representation of a favorite holiday, and the other is a first edition favorite.
colored pencils, copic markers, gouache on colored paper.
