Flim and Flam from new MLP Poster Book by andypriceart Flim and Flam from new MLP Poster Book by andypriceart
Since this was shown on Entertainment Weekly's webpage, I think it safe to reveal here- This is one of three posters I did for an upcoming  book release from Little Brown publishers this summer.

While the lettering and graphic designs are all digital, as always the rest of the art is entirely traditional. I wanted this to have an "old-timey" feel, so I started by using colored paper to help tint all the colors I used, and to keep the background from looking too bright and clean. I also tried to select "period" looking fonts to reflect that early 1900's feel that these shysters exhibit.

This is one of 3 posters I did, and while I was very happy with each of them- must be honest, this was my least favorite. Can't exactly reveal what the others are yet, but one is very much a representation of a favorite holiday, and the other is a first edition favorite.

colored pencils, copic markers, gouache on colored paper.

No, I won't be selling prints of this. It will be available in a poster book available in bookstores this June.

What font did you use for the very top "Flim & Flam?"

I'm not sure! I can't find my notes on the fonts!
I went through a LOT of fonts for this one, trying and testing... I've got about 700 on my machine.

This is beautiful! I wonder if the posters will be available (besides on eBay for an arm or a leg). I'd love to hang this on my wall!

It also makes me wonder what the other two posters are like. This one is already pretty amazing looking!

Exquisite! I'll take one *throws bits at screen*
The Music Man is my all-time favorite Broadway musical, and the Flim Flam Bros. singing reminds me so much of "Trouble". Plus it's a. Seriously catchy tune! Have you heard the steampunk remixed version?

Wonderful stuff! I do always love sitting and appreciating the "complete" styles you go for in things, even down to things like the borders between panels. (Usually in the first few pages I've noted) It always offers a lovely sense of quality that many comics utterly lack!

This is my favorite of all the designs, simply because of the old-timey style.  I mean, I loved Flim and Flam and their song and just that whole episode, but this just fits them so well, and I've always loved old-fashioned advertisements.

Love it!
